Lib'ya. This name occurs only in Act_2:10.
It is applied by the Greek and Roman writers to the African continent,
generally, however, excluding Egypt.

Libya; Libyans
lib´i-a, lib´i-anz: In the Old Testament the word occurs in the King
James Version in 2Ch_12:3; 2Ch_16:8; Nah_3:9
for “Lubim” (thus the Revised Version (British and American)). the Revised
Version (British and American), however, retains “Libyans” in Dan_11:43. In Jer_46:9;
Eze_30:5; Eze_38:5,
the words are replaced in the Revised Version (British and American) by PUT
(which see). In the New Testament the word “Libya” (Λιβύη,
Libúē) occurs, in close connection with CYRENE (which see) (Act_2:10). Greek and Roman writers apply the
term to the African continent, generally excluding Egypt. See LUBIM.

Libya
The country of the Ludim (Gen_10:13),
Northern Africa, a large tract lying along the Mediterranean, to the west of
Egypt (Act_2:10). Cyrene was one of its
five cities.
