There is a place of worship, learning, fellowship, growth, laughing, crying, and sharing. It's a beautiful place where the people are just plain folk. An exemplary place full of warmth.

This may sound like sales hype. Certainly it does, but we aren't selling anything. We are giving away Someone absolutely FREE, though. He is called The Way, The Truth, The Life.

His Name is Jesus.

At some point in our life, we all just got tired of trying to make it on our own. There came a time when we just knew there had to be a Better Way.

Zacchaeus in the tree In Luke 19, verses 1 and following, there is a story about a short little man named Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus had done well for himself. He collected taxes for the Roman government. He was known as someone who spent his life in a flagrant and flamboyant way.

But, there came a day in Zacchaeus' life, when it just wasn't enough anymore.

He was at the end of his rope. He had to find out Who Jesus is. So what did he do? He did what many of us at one time or another have done, he sat on the back row. That is to say, he climbed a tree. He didn't want to be seen, he wanted to see. He knew Jesus would be coming by soon. Knowing that a crowd resembling a riot always thronged Jesus, he was fairly certain that he would be able to see without being seen.

But how wrong Zacchaeus was! Not only did Jesus see him hiding in the tree, He called him by name!

Jesus told Zacchaeus to come out of the tree, because He had to come to his house that very day.

Oh, what a wonderful day it must have been for Zacchaeus, because he was so steeped in his own misery. He was seething in his own despair, he saw no hope for someone as "little," yet as apparently "well off" as he was.

He could find no answers until the day he met The Answer.

Zacchaeus met the Lord of Glory that day. His life was forever changed. His days of greed were over.

God promised to change our lives once we give our lives to Him. Second Corinthians 5, verse 17 really says it all: "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come."

The kind, Christian adults of The Encouragers have lives that are victorious, but also hurt. We know how to have a great time together in fun, and we know how to sit silently by while another weeps.

The Encouragers will do just that. We are here to encourage you. We aren't perfect people, just Forgiven Folk.

Our lives have been changed, actually reworked from the inside out, but not by us.

You see, one day we all climbed up in our own tree to watch from a distance.

But, Jesus called our names anyway. One by one.

And we all invited him into our lives. One by one.

It is our fervent hope that you will come visit us in our Sunday School class, The Encouragers.

Our class is held right before the second Spirit Filled service on Sunday mornings at Spring Baptist Church in room D-304 at 9:00 a.m.

It's a great tree to climb. We can tell you for certain that Jesus will be passing that way!

So come meet Him with us. After all, He already knows your name.
